OBASI PETER NGWUTA

Director General/Chief Executive Officer

obasiMr. Ngwuta is the Director General and Chief Executive of West Africa Business School. Mr. Ngwuta is the Founder of West Africa Business School and MicroInsurance International, a leader in microinsurance services providing low-income people and micro businesses with quick access to stand-alone and bundled insurance products and services in West Africa.

Mr. Ngwuta is a 22-year veteran of the financial services industry and was at various times Head of Bancassurance and Relationship Manager SME Banking at Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria; Group Head, Business Solutions Development at UBA Insurance Co. Ltd; Head, Products, Branding & Marketing Support at UBA Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Ltd; Head, Corporate Planning & Risk Management at Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc; and General Manager, Operations at Intellbank Consulting Ltd. Mr. Ngwuta is a lecturer, speaker, administrator and resource person. His specialties are Risk Management, Insurance, Bancassurance, Training and Educational Management. He had extensive experience with large-scale financial products deployment, including the successful UBA rollout of mass market insurance products in Nigeria in 2006.

Mr. Ngwuta is a graduate of University of Science and Technology, Enugu and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife where he obtained his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Insurance and Master in Business Administration (MBA) degrees respectively. He is a longtime member of the British Project Management Professionals (BPMP), Centre for Management Development (CMD), Nigerian Institute of Management (ANIM), Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria as well as Risk and Insurance Managers Society of Nigeria. Mr. Ngwuta is the Author of many books including the 546 page best selling professional insurance book published in 2007 by Nigeria Insurers Association. He is happily married with children.

PROF. CHIJIOKE C. IKOKWU

Director of Executive Education & Entrepreneurship Development Centres

IKOKWUProf. Chijioke C. Ikokwu; BSc. MSc. PhD., Cert. EEM, Dip.Sus.Dev.

Professor Ikokwu is the Executive Director of Programmes and Lead Faculty for the Green Business and Sustainability Solutions Programmes at West Africa Business School. He brings integrity and experience of more than twenty years in Business and International Development Management; Education, Training and Capacity Building. His background includes Natural Sciences (Developmental Biology and Pollution Studies), Humanities (Environment and Development Education) and Management (International Development).

A multi-skilled humanity, Prof. Ikokwu received the award of Professor of International Education in 2009 from Ternopil Ivan Pul’uj National Technical University, Ukraine. Apart from his various online executive coaching programmes, he is also a facilitator and Adjunct Faculty at the Institute of Continuing Education of National Dragomanov Pedagogical University, Kiev, Ukraine. He was decorated with Gold Medal Award for his achievements in the spheres of International Education by the Ministry of Education and Science, Ukraine in April 2009. He was Nigeria’s National Correspondent at the Malta based United Nation’s Future Generations Programme from 1996 to 1999. In that capacity, he successfully interfaced with governments, development partners, private sector, religious institutions and civil societies in promoting sustainable development and intergenerational equity.  He has also made tremendous contributions to the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) via the Global Risks Forum – organizers of the International Disaster and Risks Conference (IDRC) Switzerland; where he had continued to serve as a resource person right from inception in 2006.

 

Prof. Ikokwu is a distinguished knowledge manager who has keen understanding of administrative issues with strong analytical skills and retains unparalleled ethical standards. He has served and currently serving at so many international committees in Switzerland, Ukraine and the United States.

He has held senior management positions in several Government institutions such as – Executive Staff Consultant to Nigerian Senate Committee on Environment. He has consulted for various Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government in Nigeria including National Automotive Council and Nigeria Academy of Science amongst others. He has been admitted as a member of numerous professional Associations in Nigeria and abroad, including The Nigerian Environmental Society (1995); Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals (1996); Fire Protection Association of Nigeria (1996); International Network for knowledge Management @ Brint Institute, New York, (2003); International Association for Impact Assessment, U.S.A (2006), International City/County Management Association – the World’s Premier Local Government Management Professional Association with Headquarters in Washington D.C., U.S.A.(2006); Global Alliance for Disaster Reduction, North Carolina USA (2006); Union of Concerned Scientists at Massachusetts, U.SA,(2005); International Society of Sustainability Professionals at Oregon U.SA. (2007); International Spill Control Organisation, UK (2012), Endorser of Global Sullivan Principles of Corporate Social Responsibility (2005). He has taught and written extensively on Religion, Business, Administration, Disaster Management, Environment, Poverty and Sustainable Development.

  1. EDWARD TWUM-BARIMAH KWAPONG

Director, Ghana & Francophone West Africa

EDWARDDr. Edward Kwapong is the Director, Ghana & Francophone West Africa in West Africa Business School. He is also the Chief Executive Officer, HR Perspectives Ltd, Ghana. Dr. Edward Kwapong, is an HR Practitioner with over 30 years’ experience in leading companies in Ghana and beyond. Prominent among these companies are Volta River Authority, Ashanti Goldfields Company, Ghana Commercial Bank, First Merchant Bank of Malawi and the Trust Bank of the Gambia.  He also served as a Consultant for the UNDP in Sierra Leone as well as International Bank, Liberia.  He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of HR Perspective Limited, an HR Consulting Firm.

In 2011, he was honoured with the HR Leadership Award under the Global HR Excellence Awards in Mumbai, India. Edward is a proud product of St. Peter’s Secondary School, Nkwatia, Kwahu (Ghana) from where he entered University of Ghana for both his 1st and 2nd Degrees.  Again, he pursued a Graduate Certificate program in Job Evaluation and Salary Evaluation from the Solihull College, Birmingham in the United Kingdom. Edward also studied Law at the Ghana School of Law and was called to the Bar in 2000.  His specialty is Labour Law. Finally, he was awarded a Doctorate Degree by the Pan African Bible Seminary following a research work he undertook titled “Human Resource Development: A Key to Inmates (Prison) Transformation”. Edward serves on the following Boards and Councils:

He regularly serves as a Transformational Speaker at International Conferences including the Annual HR Conference, in South Africa and the Management School, London’s Annual HR Congress, across Africa.  Edward is married to an Entrepreneur Mrs Emelia Kwapong, Managing Director of Tasty Treats Enterprise.  They have been blessed with 3 Children.

 

ANSUMANA KUNTA MAMBOURAY

Regional Director, Anglophone West Africa

KUNTAMr. Ansumana Kunta Mambouray is the Regional Director, West Africa Business School and Head of the Gambia. He will take full responsibility for leadership, management and supervision of all West Africa Business School learning & development operations in the Gambia and other English speaking West Africa.

Mr. Ansumana K. Mambouray is a distinguished professional of the highest standard and son of the Gambia. After 13 years of meritorious service in the West African Monetary Institute (WAMI), he retired in 2014 as Chief Administrative Officer, WAMI. Prior to his work at WAMI, Mr. Mambouray served as Director, Foreign Exchange Department in the Central Bank of the Gambia for 17 years between 1984-2001. He had joined the Central Bank of the Gambia in 1978 as an Economist and between 1981/82 he was appointed on secondment by the Central Bank of the Gambia to the General Merchants and Financial Institutions Bank (GMFI), as Assistant Manager/Advisor to the Managing Director to conduct the daily affairs of the bank.
